How to transcribe audio to text
- Add your audio. Upload a recording, voice note, podcast or video file, or paste a link to a TikTok, Instagram or Facebook video, or to an audio file online.
- Choose the language. Leave it on Auto-detect, or pick the spoken language for best accuracy. Tick Translate to English if you want an English transcript.
- Copy or download. Press Transcribe, then copy the text or download it as a .txt file or as .srt subtitles with timings.

Every transcript comes with timings, so you can download it as an SRT subtitle file and upload it to YouTube, add it in CapCut, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, or load it in VLC. Captions make videos easier to follow with the sound off and help them reach more people.
Around 100 languages, plus translation
Transcription runs on Whisper, a speech-recognition model trained on a huge range of languages and accents. It recognises English, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese and many more, and can translate any of them into English.
Private by design
Your audio is sent to our speech-recognition provider only to produce the transcript, then deleted from our server. We don't keep your recordings or transcripts. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Limits
- Files up to 60 MB and recordings up to 60 minutes.
- Up to 10 transcriptions an hour per person, so the service stays free for everyone.
- Instagram reels shown only to logged-in users, and private videos, can't be transcribed from a link. Download or record the audio and upload it instead, if you have the right to.
Frequently asked questions
Is the transcription free?
Yes. Transcribing on SaveItOk is free, with no account or sign-up. To keep it free for everyone there's a fair-use limit of 10 transcriptions an hour per person.
What can I transcribe?
Audio and video files such as MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC, WEBM and MP4 up to 60 MB, links to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook videos, and direct links to audio files. Recordings can be up to an hour long.
Which languages are supported?
Whisper, the speech-recognition model we use, understands around 100 languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Chinese, Spanish and Arabic. It detects the language automatically, or you can choose it.
Can it translate into English?
Yes. Tick Translate to English and the transcript comes back in English, whatever language was spoken.
Can I get subtitles?
Yes. Every transcript can be downloaded as an SRT subtitle file with timings, ready for YouTube, video editors and media players, or as plain text.
How accurate is it?
Very accurate on clear speech. Background music, heavy accents, several people talking at once or poor recordings lower the accuracy, so check names and numbers before you publish.
Do you keep my audio?
No. Your file is sent to our speech-recognition provider to be transcribed and deleted from our server as soon as the transcript is ready. We don't store transcripts either.
