How to convert WhatsApp voice notes to text
Published 22 October 2026 ยท Read long voice notes instead of listening to them, in any language.
Got a five-minute voice note you can't listen to right now? Turn it into text and read it in seconds. It works for Hindi, English, Bengali and around 100 other languages.
1. Save the voice note as a file
- Android: in the chat, long-press the voice note, tap the Share icon and save it to Files or Drive (or send it to yourself by email).
- iPhone: long-press the voice note, tap Forward, then the Share icon, then Save to Files.
WhatsApp voice notes are saved as .opus or .ogg files. SaveItOk accepts both.
2. Upload it to Audio to Text
- Open Audio to Text (or Hindi / Bengali Audio to Text).
- Tap the upload box and choose the voice note from Files or Downloads.
- Pick the language spoken, or leave Auto-detect, and press Transcribe.
3. Read, copy or translate
The transcript appears with times next to each line. Press Copy to paste it into a chat or note, or download it as a .txt file. If the voice note is in a language you don't read well, press Translate to read it in English or another language.
Good to know
- Privacy: the voice note is used only to make the transcript and is deleted from our server straight afterwards. We don't keep recordings or transcripts.
- Consent: voice notes are personal. Only transcribe ones you've received or have permission to use.
- Accuracy: clear speech works best. Background noise or several people talking at once can lead to mistakes.
